The Saga of Swarnprastha
The Untold 3,526-Year History of Sonipat
Publication Date: 18 June 2026
The Saga of Swarnprastha is the fourteenth book by international author Naresh Das Vaishnav Nimbark. Based on eighteen years of dedicated research and a lifelong association with Sonipat, this work presents a comprehensive historical narrative that connects Vedic civilization, the Mahabharata tradition, Vaishnava heritage, and the cultural evolution of one of North India's most ancient regions.
The book explores the identity of Sonipat as the ancient Swarnprastha, drawing upon archaeological findings, classical literature, historical records, local traditions, and extensive field research. It examines the Vedic period, the Kuru kingdom, the Yaudheya republic, the reign of Harshavardhana, medieval developments, and the transformation of Sonipat into a modern district while preserving its rich historical legacy.
A major focus of the book is the sacred heritage of the region, including Satkumbha Dham, Tirkhu Tirth, and the Vaishnava Bairagi tradition. It also documents the first military headquarters associated with Banda Bairagi in the Sonipat region and highlights the contributions of forgotten Vaishnava Bairagi freedom fighters whose sacrifices deserve greater recognition.
The research includes references from H. A. Rose's A Glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province, supported by a notarized certified copy obtained in 2025, providing valuable historical evidence related to Tirkhu Tirth and the Bairagi Asthal.
This book has not been written for commercial purposes. The author has taken a personal pledge to make the digital edition available free of cost worldwide, believing that knowledge preserved through faith, research, and dedication should be shared with society without barriers. A printed edition is available through print-on-demand services, while the digital version remains freely accessible to readers around the globe.
